Lighting Design Calculator

Our simple to use lighting design calculator is a quick and easy way to see how many luminaires of a certain product you will require to light a room to the general SLL (CIBSE) lighting level recommendations. The current iteration of our lighting design calculator uses the latest standards and room profiles taken from SN EN 12464-1. The simplicity of the tool is thanks to complex calculations which take place in the background of the tool, with sophisticated formulas and LDT data used to provide the results shown.

General assumptions for the calculator are that rooms are square/oblong, with uniform ceiling heights in the measured rooms. It is also assumed that light fixtures will be equally spaced; should the products in question be due for installation within a 600x600 ceiling grid format, the number of fittings ordered should be rounded to a figure befitting this arrangement. Where CCT products are shown, we have shown results for our 4000K variants.

Natural light sources such as windows and sky lights are not part of our estimated calculation. Should you require a more comprehensive lighting design, please contact our lighting design team or your local BELL representative.

Office type rooms assumed reflection factors of 20/70/50% for floor, ceiling and walls respectively.

Warehouse type rooms assumed reflection factors of 20/50/30% for floor, ceiling and walls respectively.
